Zarif And Kerry To Meet For Talks On Iranian Nuclear Negotiations

U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry and Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif are due to discuss negotiations on Tehran's nuclear program on January 14.

Their scheduled meeting in Geneva comes days ahead of a fresh round of negotiations in the same Swiss city between Iran and six world powers on settling their 12-year stand-off over Tehran's nuclear ambitions.

Zarif has said he will use the talks with Kerry to seek a way to "speed up" the negotiations.

U.S. President Barack Obama recently reassured Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that the United States is working toward a deal that prevents Iran from getting a nuclear weapon.

In 2013, the United States, France, Germany, Britain, Russia and China, struck a preliminary agreement with Iran for the suspension of nuclear work in return for easing some economic sanctions.
