Tehran Students Protest Compulsory Hijab, Demand Release Of Jailed Classmates

Students at Tehran's Allameh Tabatabaei University protested against the mandatory dress code for women that make the wearing of head scarves, or hijabs, compulsory. Video posted on social media on September 28 also showed students calling for the release of classmates who have been imprisoned and decrying poor living conditions on campus. Protests in Iran have been relatively rare amid the ongoing war with the United States and Israel and since January's bloody crackdown on anti-government demonstrators.
