U.S. Says IAEA Report Shows Iran Not Complying

VIENNA -- Washington says the latest quarterly report by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) on Iran's nuclear activities shows Tehran is not complying with demands to prove its nuclear program is peaceful.

The U.S. Mission to the Vienna-based IAEA says the report presented at the agency's board of governor's meeting on June 4 shows Iran continues to carry out and expand activities like uranium enrichment, which the UN Security Council says must be suspended.

The U.S. statement also says Iran has yet to follow through on its reported "agreement to agree" with a structured approach for resolving the IAEA's concerns about possible military dimensions to Tehran's program.

Instead, the United States says, "Iran continues to hold the IAEA in abeyance while pondering the order in which they will be answered."
