The Kyrgyz State Committee of National Security said on October 17 that Kemelbek Kutmanov, the son of jailed former Natural Resources Minister Dinara Kutmanova, has been extradited from Turkey on corruption charges. Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov said in July that Kutmanov had been arrested in Turkey at Bishkek's request, adding that Kutmanov was suspected of involvement in the alleged embezzlement of funds at the Kumtor gold mine. His mother, Dinara Kutmanova, who served as natural resources minister from May 2021 till March this year, was arrested in July on suspicion of involvement in the embezzlement, which the ex-minister has rejected.
