Officials with the company that operates Japan's tsunami-stricken Fukushima nuclear power plant say radioactive contamination in groundwater underneath reactor No. 2 has been measured at 10,000 times the government health standard.

A spokesman for the plant operator, TEPC, said radiation was also found in groundwater near a turbine building of the No. 1 reactor.

The spokesman said the company does not believe the drinking water supply has been affected.

Contaminated water has been pooling at the Fukushima nuclear power complex since it was damaged by the devastating earthquake and tsunami. Some of it has already leaked into the ocean.
