Kabul Women Protesters Brave Taliban Shooting
Dozens of women rallied on December 28 in Kabul to condemn a recent restriction on women's free travel. Several protesters sustained injuries in a stampede after Taliban militants shot in the air to disperse the rally. Footage taken by protesters and shared with RFE/RL showed the women chanting slogans and their march being stopped by the Taliban. A separate women's rally held the same day in Kabul decried the killings of former soldiers.
