U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry has stressed the importance of continued diplomatic efforts to decrease the global threat of nuclear weapons.

Kerry called on North Korea and Iran to comply with international nuclear nonproliferation guidelines.

"Our eyes are wide open, the actions must be real, they must be fully verifiable," Kerry said.

Iran, Britain, China, France, Russia, the United States, and Germany will meet November 7-8 in Geneva to discuss the Iranian nuclear program, following a round of talks there earlier this month.

Washington and its allies suspect Tehran is secretly developing a nuclear-weapon capability, a charge Iran denies.

Kerry made the remarks in a speech at the U.S. Institute of Peace in Washington on October 28.
