A Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry spokesman says Bishkek has started procedures to sign agreements with the United States and Britain on the extradition of convicted criminals and suspects.
Spokesman Nurjigit Kadyrbekov's statement comes days after former President Kurmanbek Bakiev's son, Maksim, was arrested in London on charges of conspiracy to defraud and conspiracy to pervert the course of justice in the U.S. in 2010-12.
Maksim Bakiev, who was released on bail after his arrest on October 12, is also wanted in Kyrgyzstan, which he fled when his father was ousted as president in April 2010, for crimes including misappropriating millions of dollars of state funds.
A London court will decide in December on Bakiev's possible extradition to the United States.
Kyrgyzstan has no extradition agreements either with Washington or the UK.
