Several websites in Kyrgyzstan have been hacked by an Uzbek cybergroup.

The websites of Kyrgyzstan's Interior Ministry, the State Property Control Committee, the Air Bishkek airline, and the official Bishkek online city guide on February 20 unexpectedly carried a message saying, "We are against racism!"

A group calling itself Clone Security contacted RFE/RL and took responsibility for the incident.

Group members said it was a political act "in response to discrimination against ethnic Uzbeks in Kyrgyzstan."

Relations between the two ethnic groups in Kyrgyzstan became tense after violent clashes between local Uzbeks and Kyrgyz in Kyrgyzstan's southern regions in 2010.

Hundreds of people were killed and thousands were injured in the clashes, which lasted several days.

The majority of the victims were Uzbeks.
