Migrants Stream Through Macedonia To Reach EU
Macedonia has become a major transit country for migrants trying to reach the more prosperous parts of the European Union. In a controversial move, Hungary has announced plans to build a fence to keep migrants from entering the bloc. But Macedonia -- rarely an end destination -- this week granted travelers 72 hours to legally transit its territory. The Macedonian Unit of RFE/RL's Balkan Service met some of the people making the long journey across southeastern Europe in search of better opportunities.
