Turkey Says Sweden Still Has Requirements To Meet To Join NATO

Turkey appreciates Sweden's steps so far to to get its approval to join NATO but is not even "halfway" through fulfilling a list of commitments it made to secure Ankara's support, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said on December 22. Cavusoglu said a Swedish court's decision not to extradite a man wanted by Turkey for alleged links to a 2016 failed coup had "poisoned" a positive atmosphere in negotiations on Sweden's membership in the military alliance.
