Suspected Militants Reportedly Killed In Drone Strike In Afghan Border Area

Four suspected militants have reportedly been killed and several others injured in a U.S. drone strike in the Afghan-Pakistani border area.

Pakistani intelligence officials said the strike on October 11 apparently targeted militant hideouts in the Cancharo Kandoa village on the Afghan side of the border.

The village is located in Nangarhar Province.

Nearly 20 suspected militants were reportedly killed in similar drone attacks in Pakistan's North Waziristan tribal region close to the Afghan border on October 5-7.

The Pakistani military launched an offensive in June aimed at clearing North Waziristan of the Pakistani Taliban and other insurgent groups, using air strikes, artillery, mortars, and ground troops.

However, Islamabad routinely protests against U.S. drone strikes, saying they violate its sovereignty and are counterproductive in the fight against terrorism.
