Senior Pakistani politician Maulana Fazlur Rehman met the Taliban’s supreme leader in Afghanistan, Rehman‘s office said on January 13, the second known meeting between a foreign official and the reclusive Hibatullah Akhundzada. Rehman, leader of the Jamiat Ulema-e Islam Pakistan (JUI) political party, has expressed intentions to seek to improve relations with the Pakistani Taliban, which is allied with the Afghan Taliban and has been blamed for terror attacks inside Pakistan.
