Deadly Bomb Blast Hits Worshippers Near Pakistani Mosque

PESHAWAR, Pakistan -- Police in Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province say at least 20 people were killed and dozens more have been wounded in a suicide bomb attack.

The explosion took place on February 1 near a Shi'ite mosque in the narrow and crowded Pat Bazaar street of the Hangu district.

Most of the victims were worshippers attending Friday Prayers.

The blast also damaged several small shops located nearby.

No one has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.

Hangu has been known for sectarian violence between Sunni and Shi'ite Muslims.
