Sharif Sworn In As Pakistan's New Prime Minister, To Lead Coalition Government

Shehbaz Sharif took the oath of office on March 4 to become Pakistan's prime minister for a second time. The 72-year-old leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) party will lead a coalition government after February 8 elections that were marred by widespread allegations of rigging. In the vote, candidates backed by jailed ex-Prime Minister Imran Khan, who was barred from running, won the most seats but fell short of a simple majority needed to form a government.
