A Pakistani Army colonel and two suspected terrorists have been killed in an exchange of fire in the northwestern province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The fighting took place in the Tank district on March 9 as security forces conducted an intelligence-based operation against a “terrorist hideout,” according to the military’s media wing.
The statement said a large cache of arms and ammunition was recovered from the hideout.
The Pakistani military launched a massive operation in the country’s northwest to cleanse the tribal regions of militant groups.
But the area bordering Afghanistan has continued to be the scene of violent attacks, targeted killings, and land-mine blasts.
