Pakistani President Arif Alvi on March 29 said that he has tested positive for COVID-19 despite having been inoculated with a first dose of vaccine.
"My coronavirus test is positive," Alvi tweeted.
Defense Minister Pervez Khattak was also diagnosed with the virus.
On March 20, Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife tested positive for the coronavirus.
Khan has made a steady recovery and was given the green light to resume work.
Pakistan on March 29 reported 41 additional deaths and more than 4,500 new cases in the past 24 hours. Pakistan has reported more than 659,000 cases in total, including 14,256 deaths, since last year.
Last month, Islamabad kickstarted the vaccination of health workers, but the campaign received a lukewarm response as some Pakistanis are skeptical about the vaccine donated by China.
