Pakistan's security forces have said that they have killed eight Islamic militants in separate raids on suspected hideouts in North Waziristan.
The raids were carried out in the Boya and Dosali areas of the tribal district bordering Afghanistan, the Pakistani military's media wing said in a March 6 statement.
Three commanders of the banned Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) were slain in the operations, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) department. The three were identified as Abdul Anir (alias Adil), Junaid (alias Jamid), and Khaliq Shadeen (alias Rehan).
The ISPR statement said the three had been "involved in terrorist activities against security forces, law enforcement agencies, and locals of the area since 2009."
There has been no comment from the TTP or any other militant group about the raids, and the military's account could not be independently confirmed.
Waziristan has seen a rising number of attacks on Pakistani security forces and targeted killings of elders and government officials over the past year.
