Another Georgian 'Jihadist' Dies In Syria

Another man from Georgia's Pankisi Gorge has been killed while fighting in Syria alongside Islamic State militants.

Officials from Georgia's Akhmeta district municipality told journalists on October 13 that 22-year-old Guram Gumashvili of Duisi village in the Pankisi Gorge was killed recently during clashes in the Syrian city of Kobani.

Gumashvili's relatives say Guram was in Turkey as a labor migrant. They say they do not know when Guram went to Syria.

Gumashvili became the seventh known resident of the Pankisi Gorge to die fighting for Islamic State.

It is believed that up to 100 men from the Pankisi Gorge, which borders Russia's volatile North Caucasus region, might be currently fighting in Syria.
