The militants attacked the main jail in the town of Dera Ismail Khan overnight on July 29-30, killing 14 people, including six police officers.
The Inspector General of Police of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province, Ihsan Ghani, told RFE/RL's Radio Mashaal on July 31 that two superintendents, three police officers, and 22 police constables were suspended.
The suspensions come as authorities investigate how militants were able to storm the heavily-secured jail, which houses some 5,000 inmates.
There are suspicions that the militants received help from insiders.
A curfew has been in place in Dera Ismail Khan since the assault, with army vehicles patrolling the streets.
