Romanian President Traian Basescu has said that NATO should reposition its resources in the aftermath of Russia's seizure of Ukraine's Crimean Peninsula.
Basescu said he will discuss this issue with world leaders meeting at The Hague for a nuclear security summit. He did not give details on his proposals.
Romania is concerned that neighboring parts of Moldova -- which has Russian-speaking minorities in the disputed territory of Transdniester and Moldova's semi-autonomous Gaugazia region -- could be taken over by the Kremlin much like Crimea was.
Romania became a NATO member in 2004 and joined the EU in 2007.
