Police in the capital of Bosnia-Herzegovina have detained the former mayor of Sarajevo and current ambassador to Qatar on criminal charges of abuse of office, forgery, and other related offenses, the prosecutor's office confirmed to RFE/RL. Mersiha Novalic, spokeswoman for the Interior Ministry of the Sarajevo Canton, on May 23 identified the suspect only by the initials A.S., but Sarajevo Canton Prosecutor's Office confirmed to RFE/RL that the suspect was Abdulah Skaka, who served as Sarajevo mayor from 2016-20 and is the current ambassador to Qatar.
