Reports say that the Arab League has delayed sending more monitors to Syria, as its mission runs into further difficulties.
The league's move comes after 11 of its observers were injured in an attack in the port of Latakia earlier this week.
The work of the mission has already been hampered following the resignation of one of its observers, Anwar Malek.

Meanwhile, a French television reporter was killed in the Syrian city of Homs on January 11 -- the first Western journalist to die in the country's ongoing unrest.
The France 2 public television channel said its journalist, Gilles Jacquier, was on a government-authorized trip to the city.
France and the European Union called for full clarification of what happened.
Homs is one of the flashpoints of the 10-month-old uprising against President Bashar al-Assad's regime.
The UN says that more than 5,000 people had been killed since the beginning of the uprising.
