Tajikistan's Foreign Ministry has sent a formal letter of protest to Kyrgyzstan over the latest shooting along the Tajik-Kyrgyz border.
The ministry confirmed that one Tajik national was killed and seven others were injured on July 10 by Kyrgyz border guards who fired their guns near Tajikistan's Vorukh exclave, which is surrounded by the territory of Kyrgyzstan.
In the note, Tajikistan expressed concerns about the shooting, saying it could affect ongoing Tajik-Kyrgyz talks on "non-agreed territories."
Earlier on July 10, both sides blamed each other for starting the deadly shooting.
Kyrgyzstan says Tajik border guards later fired mortar shells and a grenade launcher towards Kyrgyzstan's territory.
Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan have been locked in a tense border dispute over the Vorukh exclave for months.
