Iran's ambassador to Russia says Iran is capable of striking U.S. military forces around the world if attacked by the United States.

Russia's Interfax news agency quoted Ambassador Seyyed Mahmoud-Reza Sajjadi as saying in Moscow on February 8 that an attack on Iran would be "suicidal" for the United States.

The United States has announced no such plans but has not ruled out military action should Iran decide to acquire nuclear weapons.

Interfax also quoted the Iranian ambassador as saying Russia is to resume arms exports to Iran under a recent understanding but will comply with international law in doing so.

There has been no official comment from Russia.

Earlier, Russia scrapped a plan to export S-300 surface-to-air antiaircraft missile systems to Iran in compliance with a UN Security Council resolution.

The Security Council has passed four rounds of sanctions aimed at deterring Iran from some sensitive atomic work.
