Third Body Found After Georgian Landslide

Rescue teams in Georgia have found one more victim of last month's massive landslide in the Dariali Gorge near the Russian border, bringing the death toll to three.

The Department for Emergency Situations at Georgia's Interior Ministry confirmed to RFE/RL on June 17 that a badly decomposed body had been found on June 16 and sent to a forensics lab for identification.

Two other bodies -- that of a Ukrainian truck driver and another of a still-unidentified victim -- were found earlier.

Search efforts for possible victims have been under way since May 17, after a melting glacier triggered the landslide.

At least three other people are missing.

The landslide also damaged a pipeline supplying Russian gas to Armenia.

RFE/RL has been declared an "undesirable organization" by the Russian government.
