BISHKEK -- Kyrgyzstan says Turkey has extradited a man suspected of attacking a well-known Kyrgyz theologian in November.
The Interior Ministry said on March 21 that the suspect, Alibek Tilek-Uulu, is currently in a Bishkek detention center.
On November 28, alleged supporters of the Islamic State (IS) extremist group stabbed Kadyr Malikov, the director of the Religion, Law, and Politics analytical center in Bishkek.
Malikov survived the attack.
Officials said later that two Kyrgyz suspects had been arrested in Bishkek and two others detained in the Turkish city of Gaziantep, not far from the Syrian border.
Kyrgyz authorities say hundreds of Kyrgyz nationals are fighting alongside IS militants and other Islamist fighters in Syria and Iraq.
