Police Officer, Attacker Killed In Shootout Near City Council Building In Ukraine's Kharkiv
Two people, including a police officer, have been killed in a shootout near the building of the Kharkiv City Council in Ukraine's east, national police say.
According to an August 20 national police statement, an unidentified man opened fire at a group of police officers overnight, wounding one officer who later died in hospital.
Police returned fire and killed the perpetrator, who had wounded a city council security guard before the arrival of the police.
The wounded security officer is a stable condition in hospital, the statement says.
An investigation were launched into the incident, the statement said. There was no immediate indication as to why the man had opened fire.
