FSB Claims Ukrainian Forces Attempted Incursion Into Crimea

Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB) said on August 10 that it had thwarted an armed incursion by Ukrainian forces into Crimea that was aimed at targeting critical infrastructure.

The FSB also said that a Russian soldier and FSB employee had been killed in the clashes on August 8.

A spokesman for Ukraine's defense intelligence service denied that Ukrainian forces tried to break through the position of Russian forces to reach the Crimea peninsula -- a Ukrainian region that was occupied and illegally annexed in March 2014 by Russia.
