The nephew of Uzbek billionaire Alisher Usmanov has been killed in a car crash in Tashkent.
Tashkent police confirmed to RFE/RL’s Uzbek Service that Bobur Usmanov, the son of Alisher Usmanov’s only brother, was one of at least two people who died in a crash on May 8 in the Uzbek capital’s Yunus Abod district.
Bobur Usmanov lives abroad but returned to Uzbekistan for a wedding that was due to be held this week.
He was reportedly married to the niece of Uzbekistan’s Prime Minister Shavkat Mirziyaev.
Alisher Usmanov is one of the richest people in the world.
Among his assets, he is a majority owner of London’s Arsenal football team.
