Thirty-five more activists arrested in Uzbekistan's Karakalpakstan region in July during rallies against constitutional amendments have been released. The Uzbek ombudsman's office said on November 1 that in all, 107 people involved in the rallies questioning the amendments, which would allow the removal of an article that guaranteed the right of Karakalpakstan to seek independence, had been released at the request of Karakalpak lawmakers.
