Late Uzbek President's Son Sues Former First Lady Over Inheritance

The Moscow-based son of late Uzbek President Islam Karimov, Pyotr Karimov, has filed a civil lawsuit against his stepmother and Uzbekistan's former first lady, Tatyana Karimova, over unspecified inheritance issues. Tashkent's Yakassaroy district court placed a list of hearings of civil lawsuits scheduled for June 26 in which the case Pyotr Karimov Versus Tatyana Karimova was included. Pyotr Karimov, 54, was born during Islam Karimov's first marriage to Natalya Kuchma. Tatyana Karimova, Islam Karimov's second wife, was Uzbekistan's first lady from the Central Asian nation's independence in 1991 until her husband’s death in 2016.
