RFE/RL Investigation Uncovers Details of Bucha Civilian Executions
Previously unseen video recordings offer new insight into the Bucha massacre, a horrific event of the Ukraine war. A new investigation by RFE/RL's Ukrainian service reveals new evidence of the mass execution of civilians during the Russian occupation of the Kyiv suburb in March 2022. Through survivor testimony, dashboard camera recordings, and drone video, the report documents how Russian troops ambushed clearly marked civilian vehicles. The evidence of the killings captured on camera are part of a broader pattern of alleged murders committed by Russian forces in the area. This footage, published for the first time, helps answer the question about what happened in Bucha, identifying several of the civilians killed and providing visual confirmation of Russian forces stationed near the scene of the executions. It also explores the likely involvement of the 234th Air Assault Regiment from Pskov.
