A hospital in the city of Sumy in northeastern Ukraine was hit by a Russian drone on March 19, hours after Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin discussed a possible cease-fire by phone. Dozens of patients were evacuated to shelter after the strike.
Evacuees from the border area of Sumy region in northeastern Ukraine say they were pursued by Russian drones as they fled their homes. The area is next to the Kursk region, where Russian forces are retaking territory seized by Ukraine in a surprise 2024 incursion.
Grieving relatives gathered outside a morgue in the Ukrainian city of Poltava on September 4 to try to identify the victims of a Russian air strike the previous day. More than 50 people were reported killed and over 270 wounded in the attack on a military training facility.
