Azerbaijan Hopes For 'Continuity' In U.S. Foreign Policy

In a statement released on 4 November and summarized by Turan, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry expressed the hope that Washington's policy towards Azerbaijan will continue unchanged in the wake of President George W. Bush's reelection.

The statement noted that the two countries cooperate in the fight against International terrorism (Azerbaijan sent a contingent of 150 peacekeepers to Iraq in August 2003).

It further expressed the hope that after the presidential elections, the United States will step up its efforts to resolve problems and promote peace and stability in the South Caucasus, first of all, in trying to bring about a peaceful resolution of the Karabakh conflict.
