The statement made in the name of the group led by Jordanian-born militant Abu Mus'ab al-Zarqawi was posted today on an Islamic website.
The statement, whose authenticity could not be immediately verified, said it would kill the men because they represented the "apostate Algerian government."
Mission chief Ali Belaroussi and attache Azzedine Belkadi were snatched by gunmen in the Iraqi capital on 21 July.
Also today, Iraq complained again that Syria is not doing enough to stop militants from crossing its border to carry out attacks here.
Defense Minister Sa'dun al-Dulaymi said most of the car bombs are coming from the desert border of Iraq, Syria, and Jordan.
Syria has insisted it is doing all it can to stop foreign fighters
from slipping into Iraq across its shared border.
