Siberian Court Sentences Five For Racial Attacks

22 August 2005 (RFE/RL) -- A Siberian court today convicted five men in connection with a series of racial killings of dark-skinned immigrants from Central Asia and the Caucasus.

Federal judge in Surgut Aleksandr Okhrimenko said the five were sentenced to between eight and nine years in prison.

Okhrimenko said they were convicted of inciting ethnic hatred with violence in connection with the three lethal attacks in 2003 and 2004.
