Iranian, Russian Ministers Meet For Nuclear Talks

Manuchehr Mottaki (file photo) (Fars) 24 October 2005 -- Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov met his Iranian counterpart Manuchehr Mottaki today in Moscow to try defuse the crisis over Tehran's nuclear weapons program.

During the talks, Lavrov expressed satisfaction that political dialogue between the two countries was developing "intensively."

Mottaki responded that cooperation between the two states was an important factor of regional and international security and stability.

The United States and some other Western states accuse Iran of using the program to develop nuclear weapons, while Tehran claims it is interested only in generating electricity.
