3 November 2005 -- Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Fradkov and Chinese Prime Minister Wen Jiabao held talks in Beijing today that focused on trade, international affairs, and cooperation in technology.

Chinese state media reports that the two sides signed eight agreements, but gave no further details.

Interfax quoted Fradkov as saying Russia is prepared to offer China unlimited cooperation in building nuclear power plants. It also says the prime ministers agreed to speed up negotiations on building an oil pipeline from Russia to China.

China's oil imports from Russia have surged with its economic boom. The two countries have also developed what they call a strategic partnership in an apparent bid to counter what they perceive to be U.S. domination on the world stage.

Fradkov is expected to meet with Chinese President Hu Jintao tomorrow.
