Nine Die In Office Fire In Russian Far East


Some people reportedly leapt from the burning office building in Vladivostok (ITAR-TASS) 16 January 2006 – Nine people are reported to have died in a fire in the port city of Vladivostok, on Russia's Pacific coast.

Interfax said some people leapt from the upper floors of the eight-story building to escape the flames. Fourteen people were injured.


Prosecutors said they will investigate why the building's fire escapes were blocked by metal grates.
