In one incident, a car bomb has exploded in a busy market in a mixed mixed Sunni-Shi'ite neighborhood of the Iraqi capital, Baghdad.
At least four people were killed and five others wounded.
In other recent incidents, five bodyguards of President Jalal Talabani were wounded in a roadside bombing late on 20 January. The incident happened near the northern town of Salman Beg, about 120 kilometers north of Kirkuk.
Also in northern Iraq, gunmen killed an Iraqi army officer, his son, and a soldier outside the city of Tikrit. Police said the three were traveling in a car when they were attacked.
South in the Baghdad, to the west of the city of Karbala, an Iraqi civilian was killed and two wounded by a roadside bomb.
Iraqi officials had warned of an increase in violence after results for general elections were announced Friday.
