Ukraine's Top Security Official Resigns


Anatoliy Kinakh is now a member of Ukraine's parliament (file photo) (epa) May 12, 2006 (RFE/RL) -- Ukraine's top security official, Anatoliy Kinakh, today handed in his resignation papers, saying that he wants to concentrate on his work in parliament, RFE/RL's Ukrainian Service reports.

Kinakh was elected to parliament as a candidate in President Viktor Yushchenko's bloc.


The head of the National Security and Defense Council, and former prime minister, says he wants to make parliament more "efficient and professional."
