In the deadliest attack today, a car bomb targeting a police patrol killed at least seven people and wounded more than 20 in a market in the northern city of Mosul. Police say most of the victims were civilians.
South of Baghdad, at least three people were killed and some 14 injured when a bomb struck a market in Al-Mahmudiyah.
The U.S. military says a Marine died "due to enemy action" in the western Al-Anbar Province today, while a soldier was killed by a roadside bomb July 2 north of Baghdad.
Meanwhile the largest Sunni Arab bloc in parliament boycotted the legislature for a second day, demanding that a Sunni female lawmaker be freed by kidnappers.
Taysir al-Mashhadani was abducted by gunmen July 1 in Baghdad.
