Gaidar Alleges He Was Poisoned By Putin's Enemies


Yegor Gaidar at a Moscow book presentation in 2003 (ITAR-TASS) December 7, 2006 -- Former Russian acting Prime Minister Yegor Gaidar says he was targeted for assassination.


In comments published today in Britain's "Financial Times," Gaidar says his poisoning was orchestrated by "adversaries of the Russian authorities" seeking "radical deterioration of relations between Russia and the West."


Gaidar fell violently ill during an economic conference in Dublin on November 24, one day after Russian former intelligence officer Aleksandr Litvinenko died of poisoning in London.
