Poland Wants To Extend Iraq Mission


Polish President Lech Kaczynski (left) with Prime Minister Jaroslaw Kaczynski (file photo) (epa) December 19, 2006 -- The Polish government today asked President Lech Kaczynski to prolong the mission of the country's 900 troops in Iraq by one year.


The current mission was originally due to last until the end of the year.


However, the government said on its website that it has sent a letter to the president, the twin brother of Prime Minister Jaroslaw Kaczynski, formally requesting the extension.
