(RFE/RL) December 20, 2006 (RFE/RL) -- Azamat Zhetpisbaev, a correspondent working with RFE/RL's Kazakh Service, has been taken into custody in Kazakhstan.
Zhetpisbaev normally covers events in neighboring Kyrgyzstan but was taken into custody by Kazakh financial police on December 15 while on a visit to Kazakhstan.
It remains unclear what charges have been brought against him.
RFE/RL has been declared an "undesirable organization" by the Russian government.
