Russia Pessimistic On Bushehr Project

The Bushehr nuclear plant is more than 90 percent complete (Fars) May 25, 2007 -- Russian atomic energy officials have expressed doubts about the future of a project to build the Bushehr nuclear-power plant in Iran.

Western and Russian news agencies quote officials from the state-owned nuclear contractor Atomstroieksport as saying Iran's persistent problems making payments for Bushehr's construction led to the postponement of talks on the project scheduled for late May.

Iran denies missing payments, and says Russia is delaying the project due to Western pressure.
