Russia Declares Military Lockdown In Ingushetia Town


The husband and two sons of Russian teacher Vera Dragonchuk were buried in Karabulak on September 2 (ITAR-TASS) September 6, 2007 -- Russia's security forces have declared a military lockdown in an area in the North Caucasus republic of Ingushetia where they say a militant leader and his band of supporters are hiding.


Russian media reports said armored vehicles and troops had been deployed in the northern outskirts of the town of Karabulak.


The area has been the scene of repeated violence recently, including the murder of a Russian school teacher's family.
