Serbia Prepares For Worsening Floods
The Serbian stretch of the Danube River is nearing a 50-year high-water mark, and the country is preparing for a growing wave of floods. Authorities say the damage is not expected to emulate the situation that occurred in Germany and the Czech Republic in the past two weeks, but dozens of people have already evacuated their homes and the army has been placed on standby. In footage provided by the Infobiro news agency, the river can be seen breaching its banks near the town of Apatin in Vojvodina Province.
