"March of Equality" in Kyiv

A gay pride "March of Equality" was held in the Ukrainian capital on July 12. About a thousand people participated in the Kyiv event, which was guarded by about 5,500 police officers and 1,200 soldiers from the National Guard. The LGBT rights parade passed off mostly without incidents despite threats from far-right groups who said they would disrupt proceedings.
